The history of Outlaw Oval Racing
Outlaw stock car racing was started by Warren Taylor back in the late 80’s at the old Ashbyville track in Scunthorpe. It was later taken over by Stuart Heppenstall and Stuart Ranby and run at he the Blyton Airfield track for a number of years before fading away.
Around 2012 a few drivers expressed a desire for a more affordable form of F2 racing so Ed Pannett and Daz Kitson approached a number of independent tracks and offered the idea of relaunching the Outlaw F2 formula.
So with a basic set of rules Scunthorpe, Brampton and Trent came onboard later to be joined by Hunmanby and Outlaw Oval Racing was back on track.
Since then technology has moved on and the cars have developed into what we see today, fast competitive and smart looking cars racing over 25 or 26 meetings a year with a grading list similar to all other short circuit formulas.
The emphasis of the club is now on a fun family atmosphere which allows drivers to race our style of competition without the commitment of racing every week. It also provides a great entry level for people who wish to try our sport without a massive outlay.
